We had been told by friends that we had to go to the hot pools in Omarama when we were down there. Now we want to tell everyone it is such a complete experience from the beautiful wooden tubs with their own fire box in them to the private gardens they are set in, all stone work and tussocks. The staff were great, real personal service. Our bodies were achng from four days tramping and we just lay back in our tub and watched the sunset and then the stars come out, my body felt so relaxed when we got out, I slept like a log and woke up so refreshed. They have no chemicals in their water so you can just stay in for ages. I just so recommend this. 5 star - inlandexplorer

Hot Tubs Omarama is the newest and most surprising attraction in north Otago's Waitaki Valley, an area fast becoming less of a crossroads than a tourist destination in its own right. My partner and I stumbled on the Japanese onsen-style spa while exploring Omarama. Needless to say, we were not equipped for swimming. "It's best to go naked anyway," owner Jan Thomas assured us. The outdoor cedar tubs, each with its own underwater fire box, are cleverly screened by the landscaping of river stones and planting around a central pond, ensuring privacy.
