Riding Through the Seasons
In late spring you will be able to view the alpine flowers including the indigenous Mount Cook Lily (Ranunculus lyallii) and the famous Mackenzie Basin Lupins (technically a pest). Summer brings out the majestic colours of the Mackenzie and Waitaki valleys and also the warmth to enjoy swimming in local lakes and rivers. Early autumn sees the change of season colours and at times there is a of snow on the mountain ranges, adding to the beauty of this ride.
